The Weight of Silence

en

When dock worker Kael discovers his supervisor forged safety inspections, he faces an impossible choice—stay silent đŸ˜¶

The crane groaned.

Kael felt it in his boots before he heard it—a low, sickening metal whine that vibrated up through the concrete dock and into his bones.

He looked up.

Fifty tons of steel cargo swayed above Mira's head, and the cable above it was fraying like rotted thread.

"Move!" Kael's voice tore out of him, raw and desperate.

Mira didn't hesitate. She rolled sideways, fast and fluid, the way she'd learned during three years on the night shift. The crate crashed down where she'd been standing seconds before, splintering the wooden pallet into kindling.

Silence swallowed the dock.

Then someone laughed—a sharp, nervous bark from the loading bay. "Close one," called Varn, the floor supervisor, strolling over with his hands in his pockets. "Good reflexes, Mira. Now get back to work. Deadline's in four hours."
