Chapter 2: Simple Yoga Asanas for Students and Daily Life

In Chapter 1 we understood what yoga is and how 10 minutes can change our life. Now in this chapter I will share 5 simple asanas that I do daily. You don't need to be an expert, anyone can do these at home. 1. Surya Namaskar - The King of All Yoga. This is my favorite. It has 12 steps. It is a full body workout. It stretches your whole body, improves blood circulation, and helps in weight loss. For students, it is very good because it makes your brain fresh and active. Do at least 5 rounds daily in the morning. You will feel energetic whole day. 2. Tadasana - Mountain Pose. Very simple. Just stand straight, join your legs, inhale and raise your both hands up and stand on your toes. Hold for 20 seconds. This asana improves your height, posture and balance. If you sit whole day for study or office work, your posture becomes bad, Tadasana corrects it. It also makes your legs strong. 3. Bhujangasana - Cobra Pose. This is best for back pain. Lie down on your stomach, put your hands near chest, and slowly lift your upper body like a cobra. This removes back pain due to long sitting. It also makes your spine flexible and improves digestion. I had severe back pain due to studying 6 hours, this asana cured it in 15 days. 4. Vajrasana - Thunderbolt Pose. This is the only asana you can do just after eating. Sit on your knees, keep your back straight. Do it for 5 minutes after lunch and dinner. It improves digestion, reduces gas and acidity. For people who have office jobs and cannot walk after eating, Vajrasana is magic. It also calms your mind. 5. Anulom Vilom - Breathing Exercise. This is not an asana but pranayama. Close your right nostril with thumb, inhale from left, then close left and exhale from right. Do this for 2 minutes. It reduces stress, anxiety, headache and improves focus. Before exams, I always do this, my nervousness goes away. How to make routine? Morning time is best for yoga, but if you don't have time, evening also works. Make a small corner in your room, put a bedsheet, keep your phone silent for 10 minutes. Start with 2 minutes Anulom Vilom, then 5 rounds Surya Namaskar, then Tadasana, Bhujangasana, Vajrasana, and end with 1 minute meditation.

Common mistakes to avoid - Don't do yoga just after eating heavy food, except Vajrasana. Don't wear tight jeans, wear loose clothes. Don't force your body, do slowly. And most important, be regular. Doing 10 minutes daily is better than 1 hour on Sunday.

My experience after 60 days - My friends started asking me why I look so fresh and calm. My mother also started doing Vajrasana. Yoga not only changed my health but my family health too. It brings positivity in home.

In this book I shared what I learned. I am not a yoga teacher, I am just a student from Gorakhpur who got benefits from yoga and want to share with others. If you start today, after one month you will also feel the change.

Thank you for reading my book. Start your yoga journey today. Stay healthy, fit ,and injoy stay happy. Extra Tip For Beginners: Always drink one glass of lukewarm water before starting yoga, it cleans your stomach. Never do yoga in hurry, do it slowly with full breathing. If you feel any pain, stop that asana and take rest. Listen to your body, yoga is about peace not competition. Keep your mobile on silent and tell your family not to disturb you for just 10 minutes. This small discipline will give you big results and lifetime health benefits.
